Survivor

After reading Fight Club I immediately fell in love with Chuck Palahniuk and decided I wanted to read all of his book.
Sure, I’m going to read them in chronological order — even though reading his new book — Haunted — immediately is tempting.
A few days ago, I finished Survivor. And let me tell you: it’s pure Palahniuk.
Brainstorming. Funny. Annoying. Subtle.
The story behind the book is very well thought out and has lots of interesting bits. He actually created a religion for this book!
And it’s not just a novel, indeed in many parts it sounds like a critic to the American way of life — actually, to the whole “developed World” way of life — and to its myths and fears.
And let me tell you, the fact that it begins from chapter 47, instead of chapter 1, was a very nice surprise when I opened it for the first time — and I kinda liked to see how many pages were remaining, instead of how many I’d read so far. I don’t know if he was the first one to do it, even though I don’t think so, but it’s very clever.
So, if you liked Fight Club, you might want to give Survivor a try.
Instead, if you haven’t read Fight Club, yet, I suggest you read it first: it’ll introduce you to the wonderful world of Chuck Palahniuk.
