Improvements
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Wordpress. And I think it really miss something.
What I’d like to have, is something like Textpattern’s sections. Sections allows to separate content so that you can handle each part in a different way, but in the meanwhile, you can also integrate each part together with the others.
So sections are not really a way to create multiple blogs — even though they’re kind of –, but they’re much more powerful than categories.
I love Wordpress. I really do. But many times I’ve thought about switching to Textpattern.
This would allow me to integrate my books section together with the rest of the site: every time I post a new review, it would also appear as a new post on the main blog, but given to differences in how I handle the main blog and the books blog I’d also be able to format them how I want from a single Textpattern installation.
I’ve been playing with Textpattern for a while now, and I think I might switch with not much hassle. But I love Wordpress, so before doing it, I’d like to know if you know of any way to do what I’m doing now, but with a single Wordpress installation — I’d prefer not to simply base everything on categories.

Michele I have also thought about making the switch to Textpattern before. I downloaded a copy and gave a go for a couple of weeks but it just didn’t feel right for my particular needs/wants. I may give it another chance once 1.0 finally makes it long sought after appearance. Which brings me to another point, WordPress is constantly being update on a regular basis and Textpattern just sits where it is for a very long time. I just don’t like that at all. If Textpattern will suit your needs more than WordPress does then I’m behind you on the switch.

I feel the same about Textpattern not being updated very often. It seems like it’s not very sought after, which is a shame given it’s unleashed potential.
I’m not sure if it’s a GPL project, but in that case it would be fun to branch its development and do the same Wordpress did for b2. I’ll look into it… :)

The thing about text pattern is they designed it to be more of a CMS than a blogging platform. Wordpress is straying away from those functions, however, it is fully capable of doing the same functions with alot of hacking in the source. Oh, and about the Mockup layout, I think I could just send you a finished product with 75pages, full mockup power in your hands! :-) You know my e-mail!

I haven’t tried Textpattern and MovableType. I have travel the Wordpress far down the road, I have no plan of changing path. I think I’ll just stick to WP and try to help improve and bring people to it by providing more functional plugins.
