Future of music
2007.11.27In the past few years, I realized how difficult it is to find new talented artist through mainstream media, and that was probably the main reason I started loosing interest in music, which had been a love of mine since I was a little one.
Not that I didn’t listen to music anymore, I was simply buying old records, or records by bands that had been around for quite a lot of time. And except for a few rare occasions — Wolfmother, I’m looking at you — I didn’t buy anything new.
But thanks to a suggestion from a friend, things changed recently: about three months ago I signed up on eMusic. Immediately thereafter, I signed up on Amie Street, too — which right now is my favourite source of new music.
The first couple of days I was hypnotized: obsessively downloading songs and looking for new artists to put in my library. And things didn’t change much in the next weeks: I’m still obsessively looking for new artists!
I can safely say thanks to those two websites I was able to fall in love with music again and the reason is there’s so much talent around, you just need to scout around a bit.
This newfound love for music, sparked an idea in my mind and in that of my partners: we should help spread the word on new talented artist, because there’s so much untapped potential on a website like Amie Street, so having someone help you find that potential could be of great use.
This is why we decided to create Music Milker, a blog where we post a new song every day.
We also choose an artist we love every week and make him/her the Artist of the week, giving away free MP3s if the artist’s fine with it.
We’re trying very hard to spread the word on this new wave of beautiful music.
So, if you’re in need of some new music to put on your MP3 player, go to Music Milker and tell me what you think about it.

ciao!
well i’m happy you got back your music attitude…
I was kidding on your blog (or i should say blog”s”) for a couple of months, just “reading around”, since I met you in Florence at Pyconuno. You should be aware of the fact I finished to read all your blog’s history… well it took a lot of times but i did (miss the comments of course… :D ).
I usually don’t leave comments, that’s because i don’t like to write when i’ve nothin’ to say (i know, it’s weird for an italian), but today i red this post that made me lose a couple of ours listening to samples of various “who’s that???” artists… and you know what? i’m impressed!!!
I never thinked about listening to something was not coming from the “mass market” but now, at least”, you convinced one Michele… congratulations!
Can I ask you if you ever took a look on http://www.last.fm ? I’m on there as “kobiita”, if you join or you already have an account just add me as friend.
My next action after writing this comment is adding music milker to my google reader feeds… read you there!
go on like you do man, that rock!
