A New Semester
Yesterday, began the second semester. Hopefully it will be better than the first.
I have a couple of Computer-related courses which I really look forward to hoping they won’t be as boring as the past courses: Programming Languages and Software Engineering.
The only glitch is they both need Java, which I don’t really like. But we’ll also have to work with LISP and Python, which should be kinda fun — especially LISP.
The other courses are: Fundamentals of Telecommunication Networks (not bad), Business Administration (I should like it) and Differential Equations (it sounds hard, indeed it’s much harder than it sounds). Plus I have Electrotechnic which I didn’t manage to pass last year.
It’s definitely going to be a tough semester! :(
And now to the “fun” part: do you remember me talking about some kind of secret project?
Well, it’s coming along pretty well — or at least I think so.
It’s up and running on an undisclosed server and I’m constantly tweaking it.
It should be ready quite soon and in the meantime I have to do some legal work — mostly figuring out EU’s VAT policy and registering a VAT id — in order to be able to open it to the public.
What I need now is a group of people willing to test it. The project is aimed at developers and web designers, so if you’re interested — and willing to help me test it — let me know and I’ll see if you’re a good candidate. ;)
P.S.
No usual Web 2.0 splash screen with email sign up, sorry… ;)

I would have been interested, but this is a definitive no no.

Hi Michele,
I might be interested in testing - would you be able to give us a bit more info on what your product/service does? ;)

Java.. erm, well you don’t want to hear my thoughts on that “wonderful” cross platform language.
The fundamentals of telecommunications course does sound interesting - but what sort of depth do they go to in it?
The secret app, is coming along well Michele - you’ve done an awesome job so far.
Jeremy, Michele is pretty much keeping it very tightly under wraps for now.

I am really interested in testing your new project. It sounds cool. I sure can give you some great feedback.
And for Differential equations, don’t worry, it’s even harder than what anyone told you about it. I think it’s the only course where you feel you hitted the rock-bottom of Maths.

Good luck Michele in your new semester! Those course brings back some memory when I was a CS undergraduate. From my personal experience, Programming Language and Software Engineering can be boring courses as well, I guess it all depends on the type of professor you get. As for your secret project, I would love to test for you.
