Generally _hate_ is used to express mixed feelings that aren't really THAT bad. _Hate_ is *hate*, it's not just dislike.
But still, we shouldn't censor it either, because censorship is even worse than using words improperly.

*@ Andre:* I love that badge, too! :)

I agree with you, Michele, although the vast majority of times we pronounce that word, we don't really mean "hate".

I "hate" taking the bus when it's raining, but that's just a thing I don't like, or a particular situation I can't stand.

Anyway, referring to your post, I think that one of the funniest ways about this word usage is this:

<img src="http://finotto.org/wp-content/ico_hate_these.gif" alt="I Hate Badges" title="I Hate These!" />

which, incidentally, leaves me totally agreeing.

Hate is subjective and has different connotations to different people. To ask some to exclude it from their vocabularies is a little unfair, but I think your post is more concerned with eradicating its use among people with limited comprehension of the true feeling the word comunicates. Let's face it, some people use it COMPLETELY arbitrarily.

You know what? You're absolutely right! People often say they hate something merely because they just don't understand it. Over the past year or so, I've tried to use other words than hate, like expressing the true feelings towards something. And so far, I've been doing good!
